This is the first course required to complete and successfully pass in order to get a seat for the State licensing exam. This course has a mandatory end-of-course exit exam.
Once you receive your license, you will have an entry-level license called Provisional Broker. In North Carolina, all real estate agents are Full Brokers. In order for a Provisional Broker to become a Full Broker, you must complete and successfully pass three 30-hour classes. All 90-hours must be completed within 18 months of receiving your Provisional Broker License. Each of the three post licensing classes has a mandatory course exit exam.
Each year Brokers are required to take 8-hours of continuing education which breaks down into two 4-hour classes Update and Elective. Continuing education classes start July 1st and end June 10th.
All brokers are required to pay their $45 annual renewal fee to keep their license current with the North Carolina Real Estate Commission. Payments can be submitted starting May 15th but no later than June 30th of each year.
Should a Real Estate Broker want to join the National Association of Realtors, they can apply for a membership. The North Carolina Real Estate Commission does not require Brokers to become Realtors. Please visit your local Association of Realtors for current fess and dues.
